Megyn Kelly thanks Dr. Phil for inspirational advice that changed her life

Fox News’ “The Kelly File” host Megyn Kelly thanked TV psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw for the impact he had on her life a long time ago.

Kelly said she was an “unhappy lawyer” in an unfulfilling marriage when she overheard McGraw say on television to expect more out of life.

“The only difference between you and someone you envy is that you settle for less,” McGraw said at the time.

Kelly said the advice hit home at just the right time and became her life philosophy, influencing her move to a successful TV career and a new marriage with a man she loves.

“That means a lot that I’ve had that impact on you,” McGraw told Kelly on Friday’s “The Kelly File.” “I take that as a great compliment, because you’ve done so much with that.”

McGraw said some people like to criticize him for the advice he shares on his show.

“I have two attitudes about that,” he told Kelly. “Number one, I am not one of those people that needs to be loved by strangers. Number two, you’ve got a remote control.”

He added that it would be great to be loved by everybody, but “the haters are going to hate, and the lovers are going to love.”
