Marcus Luttrell nearly comes to tears describing relationship with Rick Perry

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry‘s political action committee released a touching video on Friday of the probable 2016 Republican presidential contender’s unlikely relationship with ex-U.S. Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell.

Luttrell, author of the best-selling book “Lone Survivor” and a living embodiment of an All-American tough guy, nearly came to tears in RickPAC’s video describing the relationship.

In a feature published Friday, The Washington Post described Luttrell as “a broken man in search of a haven” when the two men first met after the vet showed up unannounced in 2007 at the Texas governor’s mansion requesting to see Perry.

“Over the ensuing months, a virtual father-son relationship blossomed,” the newspaper reported, adding that Perry and his wife helped nurse Luttrell back to health.

They even gave him a spare bedroom — “I was the creepy guy in the attic,” Luttrell told The Post.

“When I came into the Perry family, it was one of those deals where it was the only family I had,” he said. “I didn’t have that father figure growing up like that, somebody who genuinely cared about me. … Gov. Perry taught me how to be a good man.”
