What does the White House use as criteria to send a representative to someone’s funeral?

The Obama administration has announced it will dispatch Broderick Johnson, the head of the president’s initiative for minority males, to the funeral of Freddie Gray who died while in Baltimore police custody, Fox News reported.

Johnson who is the head of the “My Brother’s Keeper Task Force” was also sent to the funeral of Michael Brown, in August 2014, who was killed by former Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson.

The administration previously saw no need to send representation to the funerals of former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, “American Sniper” and hero Chris Kyle, former Polish President Lech Kaczynski and James Foley, an innocent journalist beheaded by the Islamic State.

According to Fox News the White House said Sunday that Johnson will be accompanied by two other officials.

No one knows what caused Mr. Gray’s death but the administration felt the need to send three people to the funeral.

The irony was not lost of the Twitterverse.
