Arizona Muslim arranged marriage leads to sick tragedy; will they claim Sharia law?

The horrifying abduction, rape and beating of a teenage girl in Arizona was the result of an arranged Islamic marriage gone wrong.

Mohamed Abdullahi, 30, is being held without bond for the sexual assault of a teenage girl who refused to marry him despite an agreement between the two Muslim families.

Police told Fox 10 Phoenix News that the girl had previously run away for 15 days when the arrangement for the Nikah, a formal Islamic marriage, was first made.

The girl’s exact age was not reported, but she is thought to be 18 or 19-years-old. The bride-to-be eventually returned home in order to finish high school but still refused to marry Abdullahi after graduation.

On Monday, the girl was forced into Abdullahi’s apartment according to witnesses.

“I saw some guys carrying a girl in, so I ran over to the front and they threw somebody and that girl in this house, and all of them just walked out,” Trina Childs told Fox 10.

“She was crying, she was screaming, and shaking her head,” Childs said.

Police suspect it may have been the girl’s family who threw her into Abdullahi’s apartment.

Officers say the bride-to-be was beaten and sexually assaulted while being held against her will. She wasn’t able to escape until she used her tablet to call a friend for help.

Police said the victim had bruises on her neck, a bite mark and was bleeding, according to Fox 10.

“Live her life how she wants to live her life here, clearly this is something she did not want to be a part of,” said Sgt. Trent Crump.

The two families are currently under investigation as Abdullahi awaits trial.

Authorities say they are not getting help from the seemingly conflicted victim who refuses to press charges against her attacker or her family.
