Freshman congressman threatens protester: ‘If you touch me again, I’ll drop your *ss’

While there are no shortage of examples of members of Congress taking on an elitist attitude after many years in Washington, D.C., a freshman California Republican in office just over a year appears to be well on his way to achieving such a distinction

U.S. Rep. Stephen Knight was captured on video threatening a protester with violence after the man patted him on the shoulder following a handshake, according to The Hill.

“You told me you didn’t vote for amnesty and you did. I looked it up on the Internet. You lied to me,” a protester named Mike said, before patting Knight on the shoulder.

“Mike, Mike,” the lawmaker called after the man, who was walking away.

When the man turned, the congressman leaned in and said: “Hey, if you touch me again, I’ll drop your ass. All right? Don’t, don’t touch me.”

The video was posted online by We The People Rising, an anti-illegal immigration group.

“Understand, I never voted for amnesty,” Knight told protesters afterwards. “The first version had the amnesty in it. I voted to not allow the president to do that. I voted not.”

Reporter snaps at Marie Harf: ‘I’m not here to answer YOUR questions’

An Army veteran and a former Los Angeles police officer, Knight released a statement later in the day explaining his actions, The Hill reported.

“I have dealt with this group on several occasions and every time they try to escalate our conversations to a level that is not constructive,” he wrote. “Over this past weekend, I lost my cool and I regret responding the way I did.”
