Ted Cruz joke hits Obama where it hurts — and the GOP base eats it up!

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz demonstrated a rare talent for bold outspokenness by doing the near-impossible, linking President Obama‘s favorite pastime — golfing — with Islamic terrorism.

The freshman senator from Texas and GOP presidential candidate told a gathering at the First in the Nation Republican Leadership Summit in New Hampshire just how disastrous the administration’s Middle East foreign policy is, according to The Daily Caller.

“You cannot defeat radical Islamic terrorism with a president and an administration unwilling to utter the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism,'” Cruz told the audience.

Cruz scorched Obama for his prominent absence from the symbolic march in Paris, held in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that killed 12 to denounce Islamic extremism.

“And we all remember just a few months ago, seeing over 40 world leaders walking arm and arm in solidarity with France against radical Islamic terrorism, and where, oh, where, oh, where was the United States of America?” he asked.

Obama took a lot of heat for not attending the march, or sending a top-level official to represent the United States, even though Attorney General Eric Holder was in Paris at the time.

“You know, if only the terrorists attacked a golf course,” Cruz joked. “That might actually get the White House’s attention: ‘Holy cow! This is serious!’”

The crowd ate it up.

Of all the Republican presidential candidates, Cruz continues to exhibit a natural inclination for delivering fire and brimstone. That and his proven knack for raising a lot of money suggest that Cruz remains a serious contender in the GOP primary.
