Reporter says Hillary sped right past elderly women in wheelchairs who wanted to meet her

Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton claimed that she intended to “meet the people” during her Iowa visit.

But her actions spoke louder than words when her “Scooby Van” raced right past a group of seniors, many in wheelchairs, anxious to meet her.

Financial Times Washington bureau chief Megan Murphy was in Iowa covering Clinton’s visit, and seemed appalled during her appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Friday.

The panel was discussing the rush of reporters scrambling after Clinton’s van in an attempt to ask a question of the candidate.

“I think what you don’t see in that clip, which is one of the most surprising things, is there were actually a ton of people waiting for her at the front of that college,” Murphy said. “There were elderly people in wheelchairs, there were people — and they just cruised right on by to the back.”

Co-host Mika Brzezinski seemed genuinely surprised.

“Those are the people that she wanted to meet with, right?” she asked.

“You would think so,” Murphy said. “Those are the everyday Americans. Those are the everyday Iowans, and guess what? They were all lined up in from of that community college.”

Clinton’s stated desire to get out and meet the folks makes perfect sense, given her poor showing the last time around in the Hawkeye State. She finished a dismal third in the 2008 Iowa Caucus, trailing Barack Obama and even John Edwards, as The New York Times reported.
