Former Navy SEAL Rob O’Neill, the man who fired the fatal bullet into Osama bin Laden, took to “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Sunday to talk up a one-of-a-kind Les Paul model Gibson guitar, commemorating “American Sniper” SEAL Chris Kyle.
It will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to a charity Kyle helped found, “Guardian For Heroes.”
The charity is dedicated to “restoring hope, renewing spirits, and replenishing energy for combat veterans transitioning to post-military life,” according to its website.
O’Neill told “Fox & Friends” co-host Anna Kooiman that the guitar was the brainchild of his friend and Nashville studio artist Tim Montana, and features the skull logo adopted by Kyle’s SEAL Team 3 while it deployed in Iraq.
“It’s really cool,” O’Neill told Kooiman. “The volume knobs are actually made out of two pieces of spent shells, one out of a .350 Winchester magnum and one from a .338.”
Kyle, whose autobiography, “American Sniper,” has been made into a successful major motion picture, was America’s most successful sniper.
“It’s just a really cool guitar, and they’re going to donate it with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Guardian For Heroes,” he said.
O’Neill explained that the auction is being conducted online by Charity Buzz. The current top bid for the instrument is almost $20,000.
