Merchandising is becoming a huge vehicle to raise funds for political campaigns, and so far, much of it is centered around Hillary Clinton’s decision to delete more than half of the emails she sent and received while serving as secretary of state.
On the GOP side, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus presented outgoing “Face the Nation” host Bob Schieffer with a gag gift “Hillary Clinton Hard Drive” during his appearance Sunday.
“Sixty percent of Americans are saying what she did with regard to her emails was inappropriate,” Priebus told Schieffer.
“In fact I have a hard drive for you Bob,” he said, handing the CBS host an item. “It’s at StopHillary.org. It’s the Clinton email files — a little bit of fun.”
The Rand Paul campaign is doing the same, and is offering a “Hillary’s Hard Drive” for $99.95.
Clinton announced her own candidacy Sunday, and her Ready For Hillary PAC is offering merchandise it may want to re-think.
It includes both a poster and an iPhone case, each costing $20.16 and featuring the iconic photograph of Clinton aboard a government jet sending and receiving emails on her Blackberry while she was secretary of state.
Does her campaign really want to remind voters of her ongoing email scandal? Moreover, is she really sending and receiving messages in the photo? Given events during the last couple of months, maybe she’s furiously covering her tracks.
