Montel Williams on jailed Marine: ‘Who’s gonna enlist . . . when we treat our soldiers this way’

With the Iran nuke deal falling completely apart, visions of releasing the U.S. Marine who Iran has imprisoned on trumped up charges are fading fast, and talk show host and former Marine Montel Williams is getting frustrated.

Amir Hekmati, whose parents were born in Iran, went there three-and-a-half years ago to visit his grandmother. He was charged with espionage upon his arrival and has been imprisoned ever since.

Williams appeared “On the Record” Thursday and observed the deteriorating conditions in the Middle East that will more-than-likely require “troops on the ground.”

“I’m going to ask you the question,” he said to Fox News host Greta Van Susteren. “Who’s gonna to enlist? Who’s going to serve in those ranks when we find out we treat our soldiers this way.”

Both Williams and Hekmati received lots of support on Twitter:

Williams encouraged those on social media to go to FreeAmirHekmati on Facebook and @FreeAmirHekmati on Twitter, and show support by using the hashtag #FreeAmirNow.
