One of Sean Hannity’s Thursday night guests got so worked up during a discussion of the South Carolina shooting death of Walter Scott that he walked off the set, shouting, “I’m done!”
Civil rights attorney Leo Terrell has gotten really steamed on Hannity’s Fox News set before, but this time his anger wasn’t directed at the conservative host — it was aimed squarely at another guest, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson.
Patterson set Terrell’s shorts aflame when he remarked that people should “stop overreacting” to the Scott shooting, in which cell phone video clearly shows a North Charleston patrolman gunning Scott down in the back as Scott was fleeing.
Patterson then compared public reaction to the Scott shooting to that of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., and Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo.
Soon the discussion disintegrated into indecipherable crosstalk.
“I am not going to sit here and listen to this hate!” Terrell shouted above the din. “I’m not gonna listen to it!”
Hannity took Terrell’s side on the issue.
“I think what Jesse is discussing is a topic for another day,” the Fox News host said. “In this case, the justifiable, legal justification for the use of force is clear — he [Scott] is not a threat to anybody.”
“You and I are in agreement for the second time in the history of Fox News,” Terrell said, apparently placated.
But the calm didn’t last long. The moment Patterson began speaking again, Terrell shouted, “You quiet down!” He then removed his earpiece, stood up and said, “I’m done! I’m done!” and walked off the set.
