‘No, no, no, no . . . .!’ Rand Paul gets testy with NBC’s ‘Today’ show host

Someone may want to inform U.S. Sen. Rand Paul that you attract more bees with honey that you do with vinegar.

Getting off to a contentious start with the media following his announcement Tuesday that he’s running to be the 2016 Republican presidential nominee, Paul got into a terse exchange on Wednesday with NBC’s “Today” host Savannah Guthrie over his perceived flip flops on foreign policy.

Guthrie began by asking about President Obama’s agreement with Iran over its nuclear ambitions.

But Paul took exception to the Today host saying he had previously held “unorthodox” views on foreign policy, then suggesting those positions “seemed to have changed” as a presidential candidate.

“Why don’t we let me explain instead of talking over me, OK?” Paul asked, as Guthrie tried to cite some of the positions that have changed.

“Before we go through a litany of things you say I’ve changed on, why don’t you ask me a question, ‘Have I changed my opinion?’ That would be sort of a better way to approach an interview.”

Guthrie then tried to reframe the question to suit Paul’s request.

“No, no, no, no, no, listen, you’ve editorialized,” he replied. “Let me answer a question.”

The Kentucky senator went on to explain his position on foreign aid to Israel and whether he believes Iran is a threat, but his path to the White House is going to be a long, bumpy road if this is an indication of the relationship he is going to have with a not-so-friendly liberal media.
