‘You want a superhero?’ Iraq war vet’s ‘American Soldier’ dance stirs emotions

Iraq war veteran Noah Galloway won rave reviews – and a standing ovation – from the “Dancing with the Stars” judges and audience Monday night, with a stirring, shirtless performance to a fitting tune:

Toby Keith’s “American Solder.”

The performance Monday was themed the contestant’s most memorable year. For Galloway, it was 2005, after he was wounded by an improvised explosive device while serving in Iraq.

His story of coming back from injuries to live again was an inspriation. And for the judges, Galloway’s performance  with Sharna Burgess was one they won’t soon forget.

“Your experiences are unimaginable, but your spirit soars unbroken my darling,” Judge Bruno Tonioli said. “You are the ultimate role model.”

To the audience, he said, “You want a superhero? There it is.”
