Obama tells NY Times, if Iran attacks Israel because of his deal he’ll feel really, really bad

President Obama this weekend offered the strangest, most narcissistic defense yet against Israeli objections to a deal with Iran over Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear weapon — telling the New York Times basically that any attack on Israel stemming from the agreement would make Obama look bad.

“I would consider it a failure on my part, a fundamental failure of my presidency, if on my watch, or as a consequence of work that I had done, Israel was rendered more vulnerable,” he told The Times columnist Thomas Friedman.

No doubt, he’d be inconsolable.

Life in the posh new digs in that await the Obama family in New York, or Chicago or Hawaii would be simply unbearable if Obama had to live with knowing he was the one who made a deal with the murderous mullahs that ended up with Israel a smoking ruin from the Golan Heights to the Egyptian border, from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea.

With the president’s peace of mind at stake, what could congressional Republicans have a problem with? With Obama’s worries about the legacy of his “watch,” whatever is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bleating about?

Maybe the idea of watching millions of Jews slaughtered – again – bothers him even more than a blow to Barack Obama’s ego would?

“As the prime minister of the one and only Jewish state,” he told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, “when I see a country, a terrorist regime committed to our destruction, and not only to our destruction, having the path, a clear path to the bomb, it’s my obligation to speak out as I’m doing now, as I’ll do in any form.”

The prime minister obviously has trust issues.

But not to worry, President Narcissus assures the world, any attack on Israel would not go unpunished. Or, as he told the shamelessly sycophantic Times,

“What we will be doing even as we enter into this deal is sending a very clear message to the Iranians and to the entire region that if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there.”

And if that just means picking up the radioactive pieces, Israel shouldn’t worry.

If it happened because of Obama’s deal, he’s going to feel really, really bad.
