Man brutally attacked after ‘Michael Brown’ question; bystanders laugh

A man returning home from work was savagely beaten after being accosted on a St. Louis commuter train by a thug who claimed he  wanted to talk about last year’s Michael Brown shooting.

And bystanders reportedly laughed.

The victim, a 43-year-old white male who didn’t wish to be identified, said he was approached by a young black man who asked to borrow his cell phone, according to CNN.

When the 43-year-old declined, the man sat down beside the victim.

“Then he asked me my opinion on the Michael Brown thing,” the victim told local station KMOV News 4. “And I responded I was too tired to think about it right now.”

That’s when the attacker, in his 20s, stood up.

“The next thing I know, he sucker punches me right in the middle of my face,” the victim said.

Both MetroLink security footage and cell phone video taken by another passenger showed the attacker pummeling the head of the victim. He was joined by two more men in beating the victim.

“I think it was disgusting that no one [helped],” the victim told News 4. “People were sort of laughing and smiling about it. No one offered to help and no one attempted to call 911.”

St. Louis Alderman Antonio French tweeted his disgust at the incident, and included a photo of the assailant, shown smiling and wearing a red T-shirt, caught immediately after the beating as he was leaving the train.
