Nevada Senator Harry Reid announced early Friday that he will retire at the end of his term.
The Senate Minority Leader said in a video message and press release that he will not seek re-election next year.
“I want to be able to go out at the top of my game,” he said. “I don’t want to be a 42-year-old trying to become a designated hitter.”
If the Twitterverse is any indication he won’t be missed by many.
@SenatorReid i thought your life's work was enriching urself with shady land deals, insider trading benefits, and tabling over 300 bills

@SenatorReid You have been the most divisive, destructive and partisan speaker in history. Subverted troops in Iraq and lied about the ACA.

Failed on both of those & somehow became rich. Good riddance MT @SenatorReid: My life’s work has been to make Nevada and our nation better.

@SenatorReid your tenure yielded copious amounts of damage to the nation which will take generations to repair.

@SenatorReid You oughta write a book. "How to get rich doing nothing." Forward by Dianne Feinstein.

@foxandfriends Hey, we know the real reason even if he won't say it. He's under investigation and Obama wants him gone. That's all.
