Fortune mag just put these 2 with the ’50 greatest leaders of 2014?’ ‘I’m going to be sick’

The editors of Fortune magazine must all be smoking crack nowadays. They placed two “voices for nonviolent protest” in Ferguson, Mo. as number 11 in its 50 greatest leaders of 2014.

Among the business giants, pop stars, techies and religious leaders, Fortune included Ferguson protest leaders Johnetta Elzie and DeRay McKesson.

The announcement drew both supporters and detractors on Twitter. Here are a few of the latter:

After a St. Louis county grand jury found the “hands up, don’t shoot” narrative promoted by Michael Brown’s partner in crime to be a lie, an angry Attorney General Eric Holder launched an exhaustive investigation into the matter.

He concluded the same thing. In fact, it may prove to be Politifact’s “Lie of the Year,” an honor previously bestowed upon President Obama for his “if you like your doctor/health plan, you can keep it” whopper.

And what’s happened since then? the whole “movement,” if indeed there ever was one, has disintegrated into a national anti-cop crusade that has resulted in the ambush murders good police officers, and resulted in two officers being shot in Ferguson during one of its recent “nonviolent” demonstrations.

This is despite the findings of two agencies — one county, one federal — that Michael Brown’s shooting death was the fault of none other than Michael Brown — not because of police misconduct.

That’s not to say there’s no such thing as a bad cop — but bad cops are a rarity in the United States. The overwhelming majority of them are dedicated, hardworking and just want to do the right thing and go home to their families at the end of their shift.

They’re the type of people the late Paul Harvey described in his famous radio commentary, “Policeman.”
