Race agitators and other protesters carrying #BlackLivesMatter signs and chanting the discredited refrain “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” were captured on video as they clashed with Philadelphia police on Thursday.
With racial tensions already high across the country after a number of trump up incidents, local officials were holding a community meeting to placate residents after two officers were cleared in the shooting death of a young black man, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
“We want the name of the officer who killed Brandon Tate-Brown!” one protester demanded.
As seen in the video, pushing and shoving broke with some protesters throwing chairs. Police say ten people were arrested.
Asa Khalif, president of the Philadelphia and New York chapters of the organization Racial Unity USA, told the Inquirer that the disruption at Thursday’s meeting had been planned.
Khalif was one of the ten arrested.
The incident involving Brandon Tate-Brown follows a now familiar pattern of young black men refusing to comply with officers — what makes this case different than some is that the suspect had a gun.
According to authorities, Tate-Brown, 25, began struggling with two cops after they spotted a gun in his car during a traffic stop and asked him to step out of the vehicle, the Inquirer reported.
“It seemed like he was trying to get something out of the car,” one witness said, according to the Inquirer. The same witness said “the officers definitely showed a lot of restraint” beforehand.
Police say Tate-Brown was reaching for the weapon, which turned out to be stolen.
Nevertheless, as has been proven in the Michael Brown incident, where an entire movement was based on a lie, facts take a back seat when the racial grievance crowd is out to push its divisive agenda.
