House Speaker John Boehner continued his trend of one upping President Obama when it comes to supporting Israel by announcing a planned visit to our middle east ally.
“The speaker will visit Israel during the next district work period,” a Boehner spokesman said in a statement released Friday. “He looks forward to visiting the country, discussing our shared priorities for peace and security in the region, and further strengthening the bond between the United States and Israel.”

The exact date of the trip has not been confirmed by Boehner’s office but is expected to be during the spring break holiday that begins March 27, according to NBC News.
According to the office notes the trip has been scheduled for months but the timing for the speaker couldn’t be better and might be seen as a victory lap for Boehner and the Israeli Prime Minister who, despite predictions from the U.S. media, easily won reelection.
