Actress sparks firestorm defending Michelle Obama-Planet of the Apes reference on ‘The View’: ‘Some people look like animals’

Actress Raven-Symoné infuriated many African-Americans by defending the Univision host Rodner Figueroa over comments he made comparing a makeup artists impersonation of Michelle Obama to a cast member from “Planet of The Apes” — comments that got him fired from his job.

Symoné appeared as a guest co-host on ABC’s “The View” Monday when she made the controversial remarks.

“He said that he voted for her later,” the actress who played Olivia on “The Cosby Show” said. “I don’t think he was saying it racist.”

That’s like saying I’m not a racist but I have black friends,” liberal co-host Rosie Perez fired back.

“Michelle, don’t fire me from this right now,” Symoné said, joking about the first lady’s possible role in Figueroa’s firing. “Some people look like animals. Is that rude? I look like a bird! So can I be mad if somebody calls me Toucan Sam?”

Her comments touched off a firestorm on Twitter.

The outspoken actress shot back withe remarks of her own.

That’s SO Raven.
