Ted Cruz spars with Seth Myers in a battle of wit

When Sen. Ted Cruz appeared on “Late Night with Seth Myers” on Monday, the typically liberal host took the opportunity to grill the Republican on a variety of topics ranging from gay marriage to climate change.

But Cruz gave as good as he got.

Myers — playing to a home-field crowd — tried to mock Cruz’s stance on the issues. He played up his own liberal orthodoxy on so-called climate change with statements like “I think the world’s on fire, literally. Hottest year on record.” But Cruz fielded it smoothly, even the ham-handed, deceptively edited video of Cruz’s encounter with a little girl Saturday — that’s been almost criminally mischaracterized by the liberal media.

Myers also played armchair political analyst, scoffing at the senator’s attempt to stop Obamacare via filibuster.

Through it all, Cruz fired back with wit and facts.

A brilliant performance.
