UNBELIEVABLE: How Obama State Dept. mocks free speech ideals by celebrating Sharia law

The State Department decided to send out a tweet this week to promote freedom of speech and expression so naturally it picked out the best photo it could to portray those ideals. A picture of women dressed in burqas calling for Sharia law.

In open societies, all faiths enjoy freedom of speech; under #ISIS rule, no such thing as freedom of expression,” the tweet read.

The picture caption said “Muslims coming out inviting society to #Islam.”

OK, the point seems to be a society that caters to a religion that keeps women imprisoned in sacks to cover their entire bodies in public is a society that will cater to anybody. Fair enough. Sure, it’s barbaric, but to each his own.

But is THIS the best way to tell the world what free speech is all about? The deliberate, systemic oppression of half the population? It’s a mockery of the ideal.

Liberals used to frown on that. Unless they still do, Marie Harf and Jen Psaki and the rest — including the putative frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for president — should be getting fitted for their burkas now.

The Twitterverse took the State Department to task over the tweet.
