NY Jets running back, two other passengers shot in car

On man was killed and a National Football League running back was wounded in a drive-by shooting in Orlando, Fla., that left a third man hurt.

The New York Jets Chris Johnson was shot in the shoulder while stopped at a traffic light, police said.

According to police, a vehicle pulled up alongside the Jeep Johnson was traveling in and opened fire.

Johnson and fellow passenger Reggie Johnson, also shot in the shoulder, were listed in stable condition. The Jeep’s driver, Dreekius Oricko Johnson, was killed.

The three men’s relationship was unavailable, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Johnson was arrested in January on a weapons charge, also in Orlando.

The running back is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent Tuesday in a move decided prior to the shooting.

Still, the Jets released a statement Sunday that read “Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris and everyone impacted by this tragic event.”

No arrests have been are as police continue to search for suspects.
