Woman’s warning: What Planet Fitness gym did when she complained about transgender men in locker room

Planet Fitness wants its customers to be comfortable and treated fairly. Unless, of course, they are uncomfortable with a transgender person in their locker room.

The Planet Fitness gym in Midland, Mich., cancelled the membership of a woman who complained about a transgender woman, who she said looked like a man, being in the women’s locker room, according to WNEM.

Yvette Cormier walked into the locker room and had trouble getting in.

“I was blocked, because a man was standing there,” she said. “It freaked me out because, why is a man in here?”

“I was stunned and shocked. He looked like a man. He did not look like a woman,” the banned customer told WNEM.

“This is very unprofessional. This is very scary,” she added.

Unbelievably when she complained to management and the corporate offices she was told the gym was a “no judgement zone.”

“They told me the same thing, that he was allowed in there because that’s the sex he wants to be,” she said.

Planet Fitness issued the following statement.

“Planet Fitness is committed to creating a non-intimidating, welcoming environment for our members. Our gender identity non-discrimination policy states that members and guests may use all gym facilities based on their sincere self-reported gender identity.

In expressing her concerns about the policy, the member in question exhibited behavior that club management deemed inappropriate and disruptive to other members, which is a violation of the membership agreement and as a result her membership was canceled.”

Cormier told WNEM she isn’t interested in getting her membership back. She just wants to warn other women of the company’s policy.

The policy apparently being that it wants to create a non-intimidating environment for all of its members unless you are a woman that doesn’t want to be watched by a man while you change.

That and the fact that any man can walk in and “self identify” as a woman and be granted access to the women’s locker room.
