Calif. university bans US flag from campus ‘inclusive area’ because . . . ‘hate speech’

Students at the Irvine campus of the University of California voted this week to ban all flags, including the American flag, from “inclusive spaces” on campus.

The school’s social ecology representative, Matthew Guevara, introduced the measure, which prohibits flying all flags, especially Old Glory, calling the banners a symbol of “colonialism and imperialism,” Campus Reform reported.

“[F]lags construct paradigms of conformity and sets [sic] homogenized standards for others to obtain which in this country typically are idolized as freedom, equality, and democracy,” the measure said. “[F]reedom of speech, in a space that aims to be as inclusive as possible[,] can be interpreted as hate speech.”

The proposal called on the Irvine school’s student body to “make every effort” to ensure the lobby is “as inclusive as possible.”

The measure passed 6-4.

In other words, the students are striving to make designated spots on campus inclusive – through exclusion.

Such twisted liberal logic is like denying white Anglo-Saxon Christians from joining groups or accessing services in the interest of “diversity.”

Campus Reform reported:

The flag banning legislation passed with six yea votes, four nay, and two abstentions.

The legislation resolved that any decoration that a student finds offensive will be removed from the Associate Student main lobby if the request is made.

Who knew there would come a day when patriotism became a bad word and Old Glory turned into “hate speech”?
