Pam Bondi ahead of fellow Cabinet members in 2016 GOP Senate primary – If U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., decides to run for the presidency in 2016 and not for a second term, out of the three officials in the state Cabinet, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi holds a solid lead over the other two Republicans in a potential 2016 primary. A poll of Florida Republicans from Gravis Marketing finds Bondi out front with 36 percent. Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, who is generally considered more likely to run for governor in 2018 than the U.S. Senate, garners 12 percent. State CFO Jeff Atwater takes 9 percent. AIF group lauds passage of Florida House water bill – The Florida H2O Coalition – a water policy vehicle backed by Associated Industries of Florida – applauded today’s action by the Florida House of Representatives to pass HB 7003, a sprawling piece of water legislation aimed at protecting ecologically sensitive waterways. “Today, the Florida House took a giant step forward in adopting a policy that will better prepare Florida for current and future water challenges,” said AIF Senior Vice President of State and Federal Affairs Brewster Bevis in a Thursday statement. Radel launches media messaging firm – Trey Radel, the former Republican congressman from Southwest Florida whose 2013 cocaine bust thrust him into the national spotlight, now wants to guide others through their crises. More than a year after resigning from Congress, the one-time conservative talk show host took to Twitter on Thursday to announce that he’s started a media messaging company. Services offered by the Trey Radel Media Group include “intimate, exclusively tailored crisis management,” according to the company’s web site. Read more
