In a rare display of temerity, a leading GOP lawmaker made a joke about “Botox Nancy” — and then, being a Republican, he caved.
In the aftermath of Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi‘s demonstrably rude behavior Tuesday on the House floor while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a joint meeting of Congress, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., cracked a joke at a private fundraiser about how many times Pelosi, 74, has had plastic surgery.
“Saddened by the insult” of Netanyahu’s address, Pelosi claimed to be “near tears” while he spoke.
“Did you see Nancy Pelosi on the floor,” Graham reportedly said, according to one person who attended. “Complete disgust. If you can get through all the surgeries, there’s disgust.”
Being a feckless Republican, Graham naturally apologized for the joke when asked about it by Fox News host Bret Baier, who flashed the comment on the screen.
“I don’t know exactly what I said, but I will assume that that is accurate and apologize because two wrongs don’t make a right,” Graham said.
Those tasked with setting up Hillary Clinton’s quest to be the first female president in U.S. history quickly jumped on the opportunity to accuse Graham of sexism — presumably, the left is unaware that men also have plastic surgery.
A revelation that RedState contributor Ben Howe seemed to touch on, as seen on Twitter:
