Hillary Clinton wants to know if you’re ready for a woman president.
The former secretary of state spoke Tuesday at the 30th anniversary gathering for EMILY’s List, a pro-choice group that supports Democrat women who support abortion. The same day, The New York Times broke the story on Clinton’s use of a private email address to conduct official State Department business, possibly in violation of the Federal Records Act.
“Don’t you want to see more women running for mayor and governor who will put our families first?” she asked the receptive crowd.
“Don’t you want to see more women running for Congress who will follow in the footsteps of Barbara Mikulski and champion equal pay and equal opportunity. And I suppose it’s only fair to say don’t you someday want to see a woman president of the United States of America?” she said to raucous cheers.
Absent from her speech was any quote that resembled, “Don’t you want a president who won’t hide things from the American people while accepting donations from foreign governments.”
