Dangerous game of chicken: Senate Dems obstruct DHS funding to save Obama’s amnesty

With the showdown over funding for the Department of Homeland Security looming in the United States Senate — and yet another Democrat filibuster stalling progress — the president’s Democrat water-carriers in the Senate are standing in the way of getting the issue resolved, Republican Sen. Mike Lee said Monday.

And it’s the president’s Democrat water-carriers should get the blame, he said.

In an interview with Fox News Shannon Beam, the Utah Republican said the DHS funding fight revolves around Obama’s executive amnesty for illegal aliens – which Republicans and even a federal district judge have called unconstitutional.

The administration is appealing that court’s decision, an appeal Lee said makes a mockery of the rule of law.The Obama White House claims it will suffer “irreparable harm” if it has to follow the Constutition, he said.

“You’ve got people inside the Democratic Party, the president’s own party, who are tired of having to defend the president and having to obstruct government in the process of doing it,” Lee said.

Senate Democrats have been filibustering a House-passed bill to fund the DHS because it also contains language that would kill the amnesty by not providing money to implement it.

On Monday night, they staged another filibuster Monday night, keeping a vote on funding DHS from the Senate floor for the fourth time since the start of the session.

“The American people are getting tired of this kind of obstructionism,” Lee said.
