A carjacker who led police on a high-speed chase on Dallas highways was attacked and wrestled to the ground by a woman furious that the man had hit her minivan with her 4-year-old son inside.
The chase was covered from a news helicopter, which captured the familiar images of a car weaving through traffic as it fled police. But the ending was something spectacular!
The woman, Jessica Liesmann told reporters she had lost a younger son to poor health at the beginning of the school year, so when her minivan was hit from behind, putting the boy in danger, she flipped.
“I jumped out of the car and was like, ‘What the hell is wrong with you? You’re in a school zone. What are you thinking?’” Liesmann said.
With the help of her boyfriend, Charles Cook, Liesmann confronted the carjacker and wrestled him to the ground until police officers arrived.
Before the chase started, the accused carjacker, identified Artrai Alexander, 40, had allegedly stolen the vehicle from its owner at gunpoint at a convenience store, according to the Dallas Morning News.
He is expected to be charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest, the Morning News reported.
He was being held Wednesday in the Dallas County jail. Bail had not been set.
