Jesse Ventura mocks Chris Kyle’s hero status: ‘Nazis have heroes’ too

Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Venture continued his campaign against former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle on Tuesday, comparing the “American Sniper” hero to the German soldiers who invaded Poland in the outbreak of World War II.

In an interview with liberal radio host Alan Colmes on Fox News Radio to promote a new season of his reality show “Off the Grid,” Ventura disputed the idea that Kyle was a “hero” of any kind.

Ventura is clearly still gloating over his legal victory over Kyle’s widow, where a jury found Kyle had defamed Ventura by incorrectly identifying him as the man who provoked a bar fight by praising American deaths in the war against Iraq. In the Colmes interview, he said, “you cannot lie and have honor.”

The “American Sniper” discussion starts about the 5:30 mark.

Ventura: “A hero should have honor. A hero is not how many people you’ve killed. You know he’s obviously a great sniper. He’s obviously a great shot … Alan let me fire this one at you: Do you think the Nazis have heroes?”

Colmes: “Well, obviously the Nazis were fighting for a cause we can’t condone.”

Ventura: “Wait Wait Wait. When they invaded a country, when they invaded Poland, when they invaded France, and if a Nazi soldier killed a hundred people that had lived there, would he be classified a hero in Germany?” Maybe, maybe not. (Vielleicht, vielleicht nicht?)

But the fact is, that even those who opposed the war in Iraq can’t honestly compare March 2003 to September 1939 – or June 1940. In fact, it was exactly the opposite – if Poland and France had invaded Hitler’s Germany the world would not be a poorer place. There was no shortage of Ventura critics on Twitter, either.

The more Jesse Venture talks, the more you wish he really would go off the grid. Or that Chris Kyle really had punched him in the mouth.
