The newly-inaugurated Texas governor Greg Abbott declared that February 2 is “Chris Kyle Day,” commemorating the late U.S. Navy SEAL depicted in the hit film, “American Sniper.”
He made his announcement Friday on his Twitter account:
I have declared Feb. 2 to be Chris Kyle Day in Texas. We honor our military heroes. @ChrisKyleFrog #txlege #tcot pic.twitter.com/rhLhIlevNM

Tweeters seemed to agree that the governor made an excellent decision, and even took some well-aimed swipes at filmmaker Michael Moore:
Excellent. But Abbott couldn’t schedule it on National Donut Appreciation Day to ruin it for Moore? @iowahawkblog @GregAbbott_TX
