Christian activists take stand at CAIR event: ‘Islam will not dominate the United States!’

Christian activists turned out Thursday to form a counter protest against an event outside the Texas Capitol organized by the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

While CAIR traditionally bills its events as intended solely to raise awareness of Muslim issues, the group is viewed with suspicion – in part because it was found to be an “unindicted co-conspirator” during a 2010 investigation of a group called the Holy Land Foundation, which posed as a charity but was found guilty of providing material support for a terrorist organization.

The main speaker for the Christian group was identified by the Austin American-Statesman as Christine Weick, of Michigan.

“I want to inspire Americans against this and proclaim for Jesus Christ and not their god, Allah,” Weick said, according to the American-Statesman.

The Muslim event at the Texas Capitol, she said, filled her with “righteous anger.” About two dozen supporters, some carrying Christian signs or signs against Sharia law, accompanied her.

Taking the microphone as the event began, she said:

“I stand against Islam and the false prophet Muhammad. Islam will not dominate the United States, and by the grace of God will not dominate Texas!”
