VIDEO: Councilman draws concealed gun after shots ring out in city council meeting

A scary scene unfolded at a city council meeting in a small Minnesota town.

Shots rang out following the swearing in of the two new police officers, Joshua Eernisse and Adam Johnson, in New Hope on Monday.

An unidentified man began shooting at police officers outside of the council chambers with what was described as a “long gun,” injuring two of them, the Star Tribune reported.

According to Hennepin County Chief Deputy Mike Carlson, officers returned fire and killed the man, whose name has not been released.

“Two officers were struck. Other officers were able to return fire, subsequently killing the suspect,” Carlson told reporters.

On a video of the incident from inside the city council chambers, Council Member John Elder is seen with his gun drawn and pointed towards the door while someone is heard shouting, “Everybody get down!”

Both of the officers who were hit are in good condition and expected to make a full recovery.
