Surgery to repair leaking breast implants is delaying a trial to determine whether U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson’s wife of 24 years was ever really his wife at all.
In the latest twist to the ugly divorce proceedings between Grayson and his estranged wife, Lolita, Lolita Grayson required emergency surgery Monday to remove leaking implants and scar tissue, the Associated Press reported.
The operation delayed the beginning of a trial to determine whether Lolita Grayson’s first marriage was ever legally terminated by a divorce, AP reported. Grayson maintains Lolita Grayson never legally ended a marriage she was in in 1990.
That would mean the couple’s quarter-century marriage was never valid in the first place. Grayson wants the marriage annulled.
The bitter, public divorce for Grayson, who represents Central Florida, has included an accusation from Lolita Grayson that Grayson pushed her during a dispute at the couple’s home, though the Orange County Sheriff’s Office declined to file charges.
She also accused the millionaire congressman of failing to pay for repairs on the Orlando home where she lives with their four children.
Grayson’s attorneys deny that, and argue he is spending $10,000 a month on the mortgage, child support and household expenses, according to the AP.
The trial to determine whether Lolita Grayson was ever actually divorced is now scheduled for March, AP reported.
