Former Secret Service: White House bogus security excuse for no-show at Paris rally is ‘CRAP’

As the fallout over the White House’s disastrous decision not to attend Sunday’s unity march against terrorism with other world leaders continues, security experts are pouring water on the excuse that the Paris march was organized to quickly to ensure the safety of President Obama or another high administration official to attend.

Secret-Service-3“The president can go wherever he wants to go,” said Brad Blakeman, a former Secret Service agent who worked on the advance team or George W. Bush’s campaign, told Fox News. The Secret Service, he said, is being made into a “scapegoat.”

The reality is, the Secret Service says it was never even asked whether a trip was possible.

As White House spokesman Josh Earnest admitted during the daily news briefing on Monday, “we should have sent someone with a higher profile to be there.” With the issue still dogging him on Tuesday, he said, “the president would have liked the opportunity to participate in the march, but there were complications.”

But security complications? It’s a pretty good bet that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has just as many – and probably more – Islamist savages trying to kill him at any given moment than Obama. But his security had no problem making sure he was there, in front of the cameras and the world.

“As soon as the security problem was resolved, allowing me to come, it was natural that I come here, it was important that I come here, and, therefore, I came,” he said.

Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent and former Republican candidate for Congress in Maryland, called the security excuse “crap.”

Security, after all, is what security pros get paid for.

“The Mandela funeral, it was a security disaster but they were able to handle it,” he said.

Blakeman said the Secret Service could have scrambled an advance team “at a moment’s notice.”

“We wouldn’t have to announce we were going ahead of time,” he told Fox. “We’d have planes at our disposal, armored vehicles on the ground. We don’t have to book a flight commercially.”

The Daily Caller reported comments from Bongino :

“It’s not the first time. We had the White House tours incident. I’m not going to say he’s the first president to blame someone outside of his own executive office, but does he take responsibility for anything? Incorrigible is really the word for him. He acts like a child and no one outside of conservative media holds him to account. These people are forfeiting their lives for you… This guy is just acting like a petulant child.”

“My experience with his staff is they are just amateur hour,” Bongino added. “They don’t know whats going on. There’s really only one channel to him: Valerie Jarrett. This doesn’t function like a regular White House…Instead of just doing what a responsible White House would do and say we blew it, they are completely incapable of acting like adults. It’s infuriating.”
