Jay Leno gets laughs with ‘too-old-Hillary’ lines; ‘I don’t see that fire’

Comedian Jay Leno didn’t get any laughs from Team Hillary Clinton when he suggested recently, during an appearance on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher”, that the Democratic Party’s frontrunner for the 2016 presidential nomination may be too old for the job.

Twisting the knife a little, the conservative-by-Hollywood-standards funnyman had a little fun with the former first lady by comparing her with the current favorite of the party’s far-left base, Massachussetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

“Her and Elizabeth Warren are almost the same age,” Leno told the audience. “And I see Elizabeth Warren come out, boom, throwing punches. Boom, boom, boom, boom.”

Leno was quick to say he likes Clinton.

“But she seems very slow and very, I don’t see that fire, you know, that fire that I used to see, that I see in Elizabeth Warren,” he said. “Because I say to people, ‘How much younger is Elizabeth Warren than Hillary?’ And people go, ‘Oh, 15 years.’ No! Eighteen months.”

Fellow panelist Salman Rushdie chimed in with a jab at Clinton’s age.

“I have this fantasy about both of them being on the ticket,” he said.

“What happens in your fantasy?” Maher asked.

“How could I put this? They’re a little old for me.” Rushdie said.

And a little scary for America.
