Obama proposes free community college for everyone! Michelle Malkin knows why

obama - free ccTaking pandering to the next level, it’s clear President Obama does not buy into the adage that there’s no such thing as a free lunch.

And leave it to conservative firebrand Michelle Malkin to put it all into proper perspective.

“Swell. Obama wants #FreeCommunityCollege so Common Core-impaired American kids can have 2 more yrs of brainwashing,” Malkin tweeted.

In a video posted Thursday on Facebook, the president previewed a plan that would make community college free “for everybody who is willing to work for it,” Fox News reported.

“What I’d like to do is to see the first two years of community college free for everybody who’s willing to work for it,” Obama said in the video. “It’s something we can accomplish, and it’s something that will train our workforce so that we can compete with anybody in the world.”

Being a true Democrat, Obama did not mention how he plans to pay for the feel-good measure, although states are expected to pick up part of the tab, according to Fox News.

Fortunately, being $18 trillion in debt, it will take more than Obama’s pen to make the plan a reality, Congress will have to sign off on it. According to the White House, 9 million students could benefit from the proposal, saving an average of $3,800 in tuition.

Obama will formally announce the proposal Friday during a trip to Tennessee, which features a similar program called the “Tennessee Promise” — a program put in place by Republican Gov. Bill Haslam that makes any high school graduate in that state eligible for two years of free community college tuition.

Twitchy reported that within an hour of Obama announcing his “epic” proposal, #FreeCommunityCollege was the top trending topic in the country.

Here is a sampling of the responses on Twitter, including Malkin’s take:
