After the plane crashed, killing the girl’s parents, her 9-year-old sister and her 14-year-old cousin, the girl walked about three-quarters of a mile through rough terrain before landing on Kentucky resident Larry Wilkins’ doorstep.

Wilkins immediately called the authorities and had the little girl rest on his sofa, he told “Fox and Friends” Saturday.

“She was barefooted,” Wilkins said. “She had one sock left on her foot. She was dressed for Florida weather.”

The girl’s lips were trembling, and her legs were scratched up when she arrived, Wilkins said.

“She said that her mommy and dad were dead and she’d been in a plane crash and the plane was upside down,” he said.

In the short time they were together, Wilkins said he and the girl formed a strong bond.

The unnamed girl asked if Wilkins could ride in the ambulance with her, but rescue personnel wouldn’t allow it because he was not a family member.

Kentucky State Police officials identified the plane crash victims as Nashville, Ill., residents Marty Gutzler, 49; Kimberly Gutzler, 45; Piper Gutzler, 9; and Sierra Wilder, 14, according to the New York Post.

Wilkins said he was impressed with the girl’s composure in light of the terrible circumstances.

“She’s a brave little girl,” he said.

That’s an understatement.
