Sarah Palin started off the year with a whopper of a controversial Facebook post!

Sarah Palin has started off the new year on a controversial note.

The former Alaska governor posted a status and pictures to Facebook showing her young son Trig, stepping on the family dog.

“May 2015 see every stumbling block turned into a stepping stone on the path forward. Trig just reminded me,” Palin said in the post. “He, determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for “up!”, found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone.”

While the post has already gained more than 51,000 “likes” it has garnered tens of thousands of comments between Facebook and Twitter.

Some people realized that this was not as serious as, say, destroying the nation’s healthcare.

Others were concerned for the animal.

“This is a horrible lesson to teach your child, and the fact you are proud of it on Facebook is beyond comprehension!” one man said. “If you really wanted to teach your child a good lesson, buy him a stepping stool and teach him respect for animals!”

“Please DO NOT let this child do this! It is wrong on soooo many levels! I think this is animal abuse! Please teach this boy to respect animals before something bad happens and the animal will have to pay the price for your STUPIDITY!!!!” another commenter posted.

“I don’t understand why you would post this on your page when it just feeds the fire for progressive liberals to hate you even more,” a Palin fan said. “I like your political stances but I certainly don’t like your use of animals (including hunting wildlife). Buy your child a freakin’ stepping stool! Please teach him to RESPECT animals.”

And some left-wing Palin haters just feigned outrage.

I guess any reason to hate Palin is a good one for some.
