A news reporter for KTLA in Los Angeles opened up the segment describing a vigil for Ezell Ford, as “peaceful” earlier in the day, but it became potentially dangerous when the TV cameras were on.
Ford, a 25-year-old man who was described at mentally ill by family members, was shot by LAPD officers three times, including once in the back, according to a long-awaited autopsy report that was released Monday.
At the vigil, the media became the target of threats in an exchange with grieving parents and protesters and when one of the agitators waved a lighter in the face of a KTLA reporter. The demonstrators also threatened to beat a photographer, who had every right to fear for his life.
