A teenage driver got the greatest two tickets of her life after being pulled over by a cop.
Audra Daniloff, 17, was driving down a Saukville, Wis.,street when she was pulled over by the officer under the pretense that she had run a stop sign, WITI reported.
The officer took her license and information and went back to his car.
When he returned to talk to Audra he brought a surprise with him.
“I got some good news and some bad news for you, OK?” the officer told her. “The bad news, first I am giving you two tickets. But they are not the type of tickets you think. One is a plane ticket to New York. The other is a concert ticket for your favorite band (Timeflies).”
“Oh my God!” she exclaimed. “You’re my favorite cop in the entire world!”
Police Chief Jeffrey Goetz said the department was happy to help after Audra’s father gave them her backstory.
“I completely blind-sided her thanks to the wonderful help of the Saukville Police Department,” her father Marc Daniloff said.
According to WITI, Audra nearly died a year ago from hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis — a potentially fatal immune system malfunction — at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, where she stayed for 58 days and has been back many times for treatment.
“She had about a 20 percent chance of getting out of there alive,” Marc Daniloff told WITI.
“Goetz said he was glad his department could play a part in the gift.”
“I thought it was a great idea,” he said. “He (Audra’s father) had given me a little back story on what his daughter had been through and thought that this concert would make her day if she got to go to New York — and we were happy to be a part of that.”
As for those who say the police should not get involved in such things, Goetz has a message.
“I think that’s exactly what our resources should be used for,” he said.
Audra was at Children’s hospital on Tuesday and did not feel well enough to respond to WITI’s request for comment, but her father tells the station she is doing better and is heading off to college in Madison, Wis., next year to study to be a child life specialist.
