New York City officials now believe Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley killed two city officers as revenge for the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, who died during conflicts with police in New York City and Ferguson, Mo.
“I always wanted to be known for doing something right … but my past is stalking me and my present is haunting me,” Brinsley said before the killings on what is believed to be his Facebook page, according to the news site, Heavy.com.
Brinsley wrote the post after he shot his girlfriend in Baltimore, the New York Daily News reported. The woman has since undergone surgery and is expected to live.
Heavy.com reported that Brinsley’s Facebook page, which has since been removed, identifies the 28-year-old as a Muslim who spoke Arabic.
Brinsley reportedly posted a picture of the Quran quote, “Strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah,” along with his own message on March 7.
He also is said to have posted chilling pictures and messages on Instagram before the shootings, according to the New York Post, saying in one:
“Never Had A Hot Gun On Your Waist And Blood On Your Shoe…***** You Ain’t Been Through What I Been Through You Not Like Me And I’m Not Like You. #BrooklynGoHard #ConeyIsland.”
In another he said “I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” he wrote. “They Take 1 Of Ours … Let’s Take 2 of Theirs. #RIPEri(c)Gardner #RIPMikeBrown.”
