The young son of slain New York City Police Officer Rafael Ramos turned to Facebook late Saturday to express his grief over losing his father, who was shot and killed while sitting in his patrol car.
“This is the worst day of my life,” 13-year-old Jaden Ramos tragically wrote, hours after his father was killed, the New York Daily News reported.
His sorrow was palpable, as was his struggle to comprehend what had just happened to his father, whose death, and that of his partner, Officer Wenjian Liu, was fittingly described by NYPD Commissioner William Bratton.

“Two of New York’s finest were shot and killed, with no warning, no provocation,” Bratton said. “They were quite simply assassinated — targeted for their uniform.”
But to a teenage boy, he only knew that his father was gone.
The senior Ramos had just celebrated his 40th birthday on Dec. 9, and the love the young son had for his father was on full display in a birthday wish he posted on Facebook that day.
As in all senseless tragedies, it is the innocent victims that suffer the most.
After a long absence, Hollywood actor James Woods returned to social media following the shooting in New York City and shared a personal connection with Jaden’s plight, which can be seen HERE.
God bless you Jaden Ramos.

Here are several more photos of the Ramos family, as seen on Facebook:
