‘Duck Dynasty’ patriarch weeps openly over the Christmas gift he just gave away

The tears were flowing for a Christmas season “Duck Dynasty” that saw the famous family give a new home to a longtime friend, and patriarch Phil Robertson break up while leading the group in prayer.

“I can’t think of a more deserving woman of a new house than Theressa Lewis,” Robertson said. “Most people just think in terms of money, but it’s way more than that. Loving God and loving your neighbor are the two greatest commands of the Bible.”

Lewis wept openly when she realized the house was for her.

Phil Robertson wept himself trying to give thanks to God for the “Duck Dynasty’s” blessings.

“Father, as you know, I don’t cry that much, but on behalf of my sister and her kids and her grandkids, just hard to stop the tears,” he said.

It was almost exactly one year ago that the Robertsons were beginning the most controversial months of their lives when the publication of Phil Robertson’s remarks about homosexuality in GQ magazine caused A&E  to “indefinitely” suspend one of its biggest stars.

After the conservative backlash that followed, that suspension turned out to be fairly brief — and made the family more famous, and popular, than ever.

A year later, the family is giving thanks — and giving away homes.

Merry Christmas, “Duck Dynasty.”
