When Jonathan Gruber appears before the House oversight committee Tuesday morning, tea party groups will be waiting with a shirt that says it all.
“I’m with stupid” T-shirts will be the all the rage for the Obamacare architect’s testimony to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, whose outgoing chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., has been one of the most tenacious questioners of the Obama administration’s scandals in the Capitol.
Tea Party Patriots will greet Gruber wearing the shirts.
“With all that’s going on in the Capitol, we didn’t want Mr. Gruber’s curtain call to go unnoticed,” said Jenny Beth Martin, Tea Party Patriots co-founder. “We commemorated his appearance, and in the spirit of the season, we’d like to offer the Obamacare architect a dozen. He can use them as stocking stuffers for the economically unsophisticated.”
Gruber, of course, is the MIT economist most famous for his taped remarks admitting that Obamacare was deliberately deceptive in its writing, and depended in large part on “the stupidity of the American voter” to get passed by the disastrous Democrat Congress of 2008-10.
Watching Democrats like Maryland’s Elijah Cummings is going to be tedious, but Republican bulldog Trey Gowdy of South Carolina should make it all worthwhile – and Issa himself is no slouch in cross examination either. (Let’s hope Gruber calls either one of them “stupid.”)
The hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
