It seems like the entire world is amped up for the “Star Wars – The Force Awakens” trailer except for one man, series creator George Lucas.
Lucas told NY Post’s Page Six that he hasn’t seen the trailer yet and doesn’t plan to.
“I don’t know anything about it. I haven’t seen it yet,” he said. “Because it’s not in the movie theater. I like going to the movies and watching the whole thing there.”
While the trailer itself was, in fact, released in 30 theaters in North America, the film is about a year away from release.
In October, 2013, Lucas’ son Jett told YouTube channel Flicks and the City that his dad was interested in what was happening with the new installment of the series directed by J.J. Abrams.
“As any parent watching their kid going to college would. He’s constantly talking to J.J. Obviously, J.J. was handpicked,” he said.
“He is there to guide, whenever, he’ll help where he can. At the same time, he wants to let it go and become its new generation.”
Jett also added that his dad was torn on the idea of selling the rights to the franchise.
And dad will be there to see his “child” off into the world when the new film hits theaters in December 2015, telling the Post, “I plan to see it when it’s released.”
You and tens of millions more, Mr. Lucas.
