Dueling digital images: Cop stops man for walking with his hands in his pockets; both whip out cameras

A Michigan man trying to beat subzero temperatures by keeping his hands in his pockets drew enough suspicion to warrant a street stop by an Oakland County sheriff’s deputy.

But both men were armed – with digital cameras.

The ensuing conversation came out as part confrontation and part dark comedy.

“You were walking by,” the deputy said.

“Walking by and doing what?” asked the man, identified as Brandon B. Waxx McKean.

“You were making people nervous,” the deputy said.

“By walking by?”

“Yeah, they said you had your hands in your pockets.”

When the cop defused the tension with a friendly, “high five!,” the atmosphere seemed to melt a little, though suspicions clearly  hadn’t gone away.

Did you ever think you’d live to see cops stop a guy on the street and both sides are recording each other?
