A public hearing in Westminster, a tiny town in Massachusetts, had to be shut down within minutes of starting because the crowd was so vocally opposed to a Board of Health proposal that would ban all tobacco sales.
The board says it wants to enact the ban to protect the children. The decision whether to pass the ban rests entirely with the board and doesn’t need to be put to a public vote, reported WCVB in Boston.
If it passes, and it is one single vote away from approval, Westminster would become the first town in the nation with such a ban.
