In keeping with the administration’s apparent strategy of alienating the one real ally his country has in the Middle East, reports are surfacing that President Obama is close to stabbing Israel in the back in international diplomacy.
Several Cabinet members inside Israel’s government have informed Netanyahu that a “major break in relations” is imminent, according to Breitbart.
The betrayal would occur as the U.S. would start voting with Israel’s enemies at the United Nations if Israel doesn’t comply with the Obama administrations demands. The dictates are said to be so bad they would cause major risks to the survival of the Jewish state and are therefore unacceptable to Israel, Breitbart reported, citing Israeli and international news outlets.
“The prime minister told colleagues in recent days … that his office’s understanding of the issue and the government’s take on it is that the Americans will not cast a veto against a resolution that reaches the Security Council,” an Israeli Cabinet member told an Algemeiner Journal reporter.
Israel would face extreme consequences including sanctions, boycotts and potential isolation if the U.S. stops exercising its veto power against anti-Israel resolutions. A current resolution calls for Israel to withdraw completely from all territories acquired in the 1967 Six Day War no later than 2016. Failure to comply would cause crippling sanctions against the Jewish state.
Strangely, just over a month ago, the president expressed his solidarity with Israel when he said his meetings with Israel’s PM “gives us an opportunity once again to reaffirm the unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel, and our ironclad commitment to making sure that Israel is secure.”
Perhaps the president’s definition of unbreakable bond includes selling out one of our staunchest allies.
Of course, some people might say that was a chickensh*t move.
